How do you define great advertising?
For me, advertising should be a medium that helps clients to deliver their message to the right audience. And great advertising should be creative, inspiring, memorable, and meaningful.
What inspires your work?
My “Eureka!” moments! I enjoy learning something new, from knowing nothing about it and being frustrated to getting to know how it works and becoming good at it. It’s like puzzle solving.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I watch a lot of TV shows and movies in my spare time (mostly Asian dramas, crime films, and romantic comedies). I am a professional bathroom singer and trying to write my own song one day. I am also a huge K-pop fan, so I like to collect Korean boy group merchandise and go to K-pop concerts.
Where were you born?
I was born in Guangzhou, China. My hometown is one of the major cities in China located down south and very well-known for good foods! When I was ten, my family moved to San Francisco, and I’ve been a SF local since then.
What’s the most unusual thing you know how to do?
It’s probably not that unusual, but I’m pretty good at riddles and puzzles (even better if they are in my native language). I am also very sensitive to taste; I could recognize the ingredients in my mom’s recipe without telling me what it is; I could identify where she brought today’s Bok choy.
