But as we begin this New Year, we thought it would be a great time to reflect on the most basic marketing strategy of all…how we interact with our customers.
At Gumas, we have a very specific description of what our customers mean to us and how they should always be treated. As we start the New Year, we thought you might want to consider sharing it with your entire staff, and remind them for whom we really work.

A Customer is the most important person ever in this office, either in person or otherwise.
A Customer is not dependent on us. We are dependent on them.
A Customer is not an interruption of our work; they are the purpose of it. We are not doing them a favor by serving them; they are doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.
A Customer is not an outsider to our business; they are part of it.
A Customer is not a cold statistic””a name on a file card or a ledger sheet. They are a flesh and blood human being with family, feelings and emotions like our own.
A Customer is not someone to argue with. Nobody ever wins an argument with a customer.
A Customer is a person who brings us their wants. It is our job to fulfill them profitably””for them and for ourselves.
As we enter a New Year, let’s not forget the basics. So, from all of us at Gumas, here’s wishing you a very healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.
